If you are still at a loss as to what to do to celebrate either World Tarot Day or the 100th Anniversary of the Rider-Waite deck, you may want to consider these ideas!
Stuart Kaplan and U.S. Games Systems, Inc. have released an absolutely stunning Pamela Colman Smith Commemorative set that features over 100 non-Tarot works of art by Pamela Colman Smith. This amazing set includes two books, The Artwork & Times of Pamela Colman Smith by Stuart R. Kaplan, and a newly formatted The Pictorial Key to the Tarot by Arthur Edward Waite. Also included in the attractive keepsake case are:
a 5 inch by 7 inch photo of Pamela Colman Smith,
(3) 5 inch by 7 inch artwork reproductions by Pamela Colman Smith,
(6) color postcards featuring an assortment of artwork by Pamela Colman Smith,
a new Smith-Waite Centennial Edition Tarot Deck reproduced from the original 1909 deck, complete with drawstring organza bag, and
a spread sheet guide with three diagrammed layouts.
Less flamboyant, but no less interesting is a book published by the Association for Tarot Studies, titled The Story of the Waite-Smith Tarot written by K. Frank Jensen, who also published and edited Manteia, a magazine with reviews and articles on Tarot and cartomancy that was published between 1989 and 1996. In this book, Frank Jensen tells the story of the Waite-Smith Tarot as fully as it can be told. The key highlight, and what makes this book special is that it is the first to give equal billing, so to speak, to Pamela Colman Smith... making her a partner/collaborator rather than a hired hand to do what was told. This book is available directly from the Association for Tarot Studies in Australia, and from Tarot Garden in the U.S.
