Find a word that makes you feel relaxed. Maybe it’s blue, clouds, sunshine, or peace. Choose a word and say it to yourself quietly until you feel in a good zone. When you are ready, we can begin.

You are sitting under a large tree. The leaves are beginning to turn an array of colors of orange, red and yellow. You can hear the sound of water nearby and the sun is almost gone. Feelings are swirling around you. Don’t fight it and let it come into your heart. You turn to your right and see three cups in front of you. Take your time to pick up each cup and look at each one closely. The feelings stuffed inside of you are now contained in each of the three cups. Open you heart to feel what your feelings whisper to you. The sun is about to go down. All is not lost, for whatever heavy feelings you have explored now, there is something light waiting for you.

Where is the light for you? As the last ray of the sunset begins to leave, a flash of dark blue mixed with yellow shines with glorious power over the sky, then it is darkness. There is now another cup to your left. You touch the cup. How does it feel to you? Pick it up and what emotion is in that cup? Can it be drunk or only savored? Take your time with this last cup. When you are ready, you will begin to use the word you chanted before to take you back to your reality.

When you’re back in this world, take time to sit with yourself for a few moments. Please for next moment, don’t think; just feel your emotions. Write down all you experienced with the Four of Cups. Take time during the week to allow yourself to be free with your feelings.
