As I write article from A Gathering Grove coffee shop today, we have bright, blue skies in the greater Puget Sound (Seattle) area. The air is crisp and cold. I had to scrape frost from my windshield this morning before driving the girls to school. There are about 19 more days before our days start to get longer again. More daylight! Yeah! I can’t wait!
I love that I pulled the Spirit of Yule card in the spread for this month. How very fitting.
Yule or Winter Solstice is celebrated on the darkest day of the year, but the focus is on life and light. Traditionally, the Yule log was the center of the celebration, which would be brought inside and lighted with splinters saved from the previous year’s log and was burned for twelve hours for good luck.
Later, the Yule log was replaced with the Yule tree, but instead of burning, candles were lit on it. The evergreen, holly and mistletoe all symbolize fertility and everlasting life. Winter itself honors wisdom, strength, survival and renewal or rebirth.
Whether you celebrate Yule, Winter Solstice or Christmas, celebrate that which brings you happiness, hope and joy.
This month when you feel yourself surrounded with all of the pressures of the season, take some time and appreciate yourself. Remember how beautiful you are, that beauty comes from within yourself. Recognize and honor the beauty in others as well. Focus on what is good and positive, this will create even more of the same.
It is also important to remember that words mean things. Sometimes words are better left unsaid or unwritten. Think things through before you open your mouth or pop off an email. Think about how it will be received. Pretend that you are the person on the receiving end. How does it sound to you? How important is the point you are trying to make. Are you just trying to prove that you are right and the other person is wrong? Or do you have a valid point to make? They are two completely different things.
You may find yourself going through some personal transformations this month. If you are one of the lucky ones going thought this, examine your own inner truth before you leap. This may not be the time to make huge changes, as you are on the correct path, you just might need to change course just a bit.
This is definitely a time to cross things off of your to-do list. What are you waiting for? The list is going to be there again tomorrow. Why not knock a few of those things off of your list today?
Wear lavender, it is a very powerful color. It is very feminine, but suggests grace, elegance and something special. It is also a favorite color of the Faeries.
As always, I hope you find that this message from the Fae helps guide you through the ups and downs of this month! Remember to say a special little thank you to our Fae Friends for the guidance, insight and entertainment!
See you again, next month and keep the faith!
